Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

Atlantic Provinces also called Atlantic Canada, is the region of Canada located on the Atlantic Coast. It includes four Provinces of Canada namely – New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. The Atlantic Immigration Program is an employer-driven program that helps employers to recruit and hire skilled and experienced workers to fill jobs in Atlantic Provinces. Employers are required to be designated by provincial government before they can make a job offer and hire a candidate under AIP. Every Province handles this designation separately. To be designated, an employer must:

    • Be in good standing with Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR).
    • Have been operating in the Atlantic region for at least 2 years.
    • Work with a settlement service provider organization to help his candidates get settlement services.
    • Be able to offer free onboarding training.
There is no fee for the application for the employers to be designated and the employers need to be designated only once. Once the employer is designated, they will get a Confirmation of Designation from their province, and they are then eligible to hire a candidate under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
